Hampshire Care Home Manager Finalist 2014

Huge congratulations go to Gemma Domingo, Manager of The Wilverley Association’s Forest Oaks Care Home in Brockenhurst this week. Shortlisted as a finalist by the Hampshire Care Association, Gemma was nominated as Care Home Manager of the Year 2014. The Hampshire Care Association awards were held at The Ageas Bowl, Southampton on Friday 14th November, with 152 people attending from across Hampshire, representing all areas of the Care sector. This prestigious annual awards ceremony is a chance for Hampshire Care Association to recognise Hampshire’s star carers and celebrate those often unsung heroes who work so hard across the care sector, making life not only more manageable for others but also more enjoyable. As an organisation, The Hampshire Care Association is dedicated to working closely with all those involved in care provision to promote and provide quality care across Hampshire. As runner up in the Care Home Manager of 2014 category Gemma told me “I am so happy and excited to be a finalist, to be nominated has given me so much joy and to be recognised by an organisation I respect so much, is beyond imagination. We had a lovely evening at the Ageas, it was a privilege to be in such great company.” In her nomination Gemma was commended for her attitude to care. To Gemma, every care home resident is an individual and it’s vital they’re treated as such. Highly experienced in care, she works tirelessly to ensure residents happiness, comfort and ultimately that her team provide professional and dedicated care. Gail Pussard, Chief Executive of The Wilverley Association, who also attended the event, said “today is a day to celebrate the fantastic work Hampshire carers are doing, this nomination is not only testament to Gemma’s hard work but also a reflection of the dedication of our entire care team.” The Wilverley Association, a charitable organisation since 1964, runs two successful residential care homes set in the beautiful, tranquil surroundings of the New Forest. Renowned for their professional, dedicated staff and friendly inviting homes, Forest Oaks and Little Haven offer so much more than basic care. Whilst care is obviously central to what they do, they believe that organised activities are at the heart of care, to encourage socialising, exercise and most importantly, fun. Of paramount importance is encouraging residents to maintain independence, dignity and control of their care.
