Pancakes, Chinese New Year and Vaccinations!

Dear residents, relatives, staff and friends of The Wilverley Association,

Once again I would like to thank you all for your continued support of The Wilverley Association in what has been a really difficult time for us all.

It has been a few weeks now since our residents and staff had their first vaccination. Whilst some staff experienced side effects, residents didn’t report any problems, which is good news. We understand that we will have now built up a degree of immunity which is very reassuring.

As you know, in the recent government announcement, care home residents will be allowed one regular visitor from 8th March, provided they are tested and wear PPE.  We will be in touch with relatives as soon as we have the guidance and have a plan in place to ensure safe visiting. In the meantime, we continue to support visiting, in line with government guidance.

In our Homes (Little Haven and Forest Oaks), our staff have worked hard to maintain morale during this very challenging time.  In recognition of all their hard work and as a thank you, our trustees gave every member of staff a £50 voucher to enjoy.  Plus, we were lucky enough for the Rhinefield House Hotel to deliver some delicious cakes to some of our staff, too!

Residents have continued to take part in the daily array of activities on offer, with cake making, seated table tennis, pancake-flipping team games on Shrove Tuesday as well as celebrating the Chinese New Year in and taking part in a Mexican-themed day (including playing with the piñata which one of the staff had made and brought in).

Going forward, we look forward to returning to some degree of normality as the government restrictions start to ease, whilst maintaining a happy, safe home for our residents.

Best wishes

Pam
